How do I convert AVIF to JPG?
Open AvifUndo, drop one or more .avif files on the converter, pick JPG, set quality, and download. Conversion runs in your browser with createImageBitmap and canvas — the files are not uploaded.
Does AvifUndo upload my images?
No. Decoding and encoding happen on this device. There is no conversion API and no image storage. If you download a ZIP, that archive is also built locally.
Why won’t my browser convert an AVIF?
The browser must be able to decode AVIF. Chrome 85+, Edge 121+, Firefox 93+, and Safari 16+ can. If decode fails, AvifUndo shows a clear error instead of a blank download. Try updating the browser or using another device.
Can I convert several AVIF files at once?
Yes. Add a whole folder’s worth of AVIFs, convert them to JPG or PNG, then download each file or a single ZIP.
Is AVIF to JPG lossless?
No. JPEG is a lossy format. AvifUndo lets you choose JPEG quality (default 92). PNG keeps a lossless raster of what the browser decoded, including transparency. Wide-gamut or HDR AVIF is flattened to the canvas color space (typically sRGB).
Does JPEG keep AVIF transparency?
JPEG has no alpha channel. Transparent pixels are composited onto the background color you pick (white by default). Choose PNG if you need to keep transparency.
What is the difference between AVIF, WebP, and JPG?
AVIF usually produces the smallest files at a given quality. WebP is more widely supported than AVIF and still smaller than JPEG. JPEG opens everywhere — email, printers, older editors, and social uploads that still reject AVIF.
Is AvifUndo free? Do you show ads?
The converter is free and works without an account. The layout is reserved for optional ads (AdSense-ready slots). Ads, if enabled, load from Google — they do not receive your image files.
Can I convert AVIF to JPG on my phone?
Yes. AvifUndo is mobile-first. Safari on iOS 16+ and current Chrome/Firefox on Android can decode AVIF. Large batches may need more memory — convert in smaller groups if the tab reloads.
Do you keep EXIF or GPS?
No. Canvas export writes pixels only. Orientation is whatever the browser baked in while decoding. That is also why location data in the AVIF does not appear in the JPG — a privacy feature, not a bug.
Is there a file size limit?
AvifUndo does not impose one. Your device does. A 100-megapixel AVIF can fail with a memory error. Try one file at a time if that happens.
Why is the JPG sometimes larger than the AVIF?
AVIF is better at spending bits. A high-quality JPEG of the same pixels is often bigger. Lower the quality slider, or keep the AVIF if the destination can open it.
Can I convert JPG to AVIF here?
No. This tool only decodes AVIF and encodes JPG or PNG. Encoding AVIF in the browser is a different, heavier job.
Does the ZIP upload anything?
No. JSZip runs in the page. The archive is built in memory and downloaded from a blob URL.
